Tobacco basket

I have been wanting to hang something going up my stairs but I didn't know what to put there. It's such a large space and it's hard to decide what to put there.
I've been looking around and I saw this tobacco basket on one of the decorating shows. I fell in love!!! Then I started looking and saw how much they cost and was like I guess I won't be getting one of those. I can't spend two hundred dollars on something to decorate my house. I'm not rich and I love a deal, so I figured I was out. But guess what I have an awesome friend who found one for me for a great deal!!! I love when I can get something for cheaper than i thought. So here is the before and after of my wall when we put it up.

Sea Glass Candy

I was looking at party ideas the other day and ran across this one. I thought it was neat and beautiful. I couldn't wait to try it and share it with you guys. Here's how to do it:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup water

  • 3/4 cup corn syrup

  • 1/4 – 1 tsp. flavoring oil (I used apple, but you can use any flavor you want!)

  • Icing sugar (to coat cooled candy)

  • Step One
Grease a cookie sheet or cake pan with butter.
    Step Two
    Measure ingredients.
    Step Three
Pour granulated sugar, corn syrup and water in a medium saucepan. Place over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves.
    Step Four
Without stirring, boil the mixture until a candy thermometer reads between 300 and 310 degrees. (This will take about 30 minutes.) Drop a small amount into ice water. If it separates into brittle strands its ready.

    Step Five
Remove from heat and let boiling subside.
    Step Six
Measure flavoring oil and pour into candy mixture. Also add food coloring if desired. Blend with a wooden spoon. (You’ll notice that it will get really steamy for a few seconds.)
    Step Seven
Pour onto greased cookie sheet or cake pan. Let cool. (I put mine in the fridge)

    Step Eight
Cover hardened candy with parchment paper and tap with a spoon to shatter candy into small pieces.

    Step Nine
Use a basting brush and coat candy pieces with icing sugar or confectioner’s sugar.

Then all that's left is to package it. I hope you guys enjoy. Let me know what you guys think!!!

    Fun Wall Decor

I wanted to share one of my recent art projects with you guys. I wanted to help a friend of mine with her kid's room decor. They weren't able to paint, so I had to find something non permanent to do. They wanted polka dots so this is what I did. First I got different sizes of embroidery hoops and got some different kinds of fabric that all matched. Then I cut the fabric to fit the hoops and put them together. Next I stretched the fabric and tightened the knob on top. After I cut off all the extra fabric and glued the knob closed. Here are a few pictures of the project. Hope you like it! Let me know if any of you guys try it!
